When a buyer purchases an image, that listing is removed from the marketplace so nobody else can buy the same file here. That is what we mean by an exclusive license on this platform—exclusive to you among marketplace buyers for that asset.
The buyer receives permission for commercial and personal use in line with our terms: websites, marketing, social content, presentations, and similar everyday business and creative uses, subject to law and our acceptable-use expectations.
The creator retains copyright. Purchasing a license does not transfer ownership of the copyright itself. The buyer must not misrepresent authorship or resell the image as stock on the marketplace.
Because the creator keeps copyright, they may still use the work in ways that do not conflict with the buyer’s license—for example in their own portfolio or other channels—unless they have agreed otherwise outside this platform. If you need a full buyout of all rights, that requires a separate agreement with the creator.
No reselling on the platform: buyers may not list or sublicense the purchased file as a new stock image on the marketplace. Standard personal and commercial project use is the intent.
Illustrative comparison—always read the current terms for binding language.
| Aspect | SitePost exclusive | Typical stock (multi-buyer) |
|---|---|---|
| Availability on marketplace after purchase | Image is delisted; no further sales on this marketplace | Same image often remains available to many buyers |
| Buyer use (commercial / personal) | Broad use for business and personal projects per platform terms | Varies by tier (standard vs extended); often extra fees for broad use |
| Copyright ownership | Creator retains copyright; buyer receives a license | Creator retains copyright; buyer receives a license |
| Creator using the image elsewhere | Creator may retain portfolio or other non-conflicting uses (copyright stays with them) | Creator may license widely unless exclusive buyout elsewhere |
| Reselling on this platform | Buyer cannot resell as stock listings on the marketplace | N/A—buyers generally cannot relist as new stock here either |
